The lineup for the 2020 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has been announced, and it sounds incredible. On Feb. 2, 2020, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will take the stage during the big game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
The two female superstars have been in the limelight since the ’90s. They’ve each had success on both the Latin and pop charts for decades.
“These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become, and we’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages,” Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s vice president of marketing, said in a statement.
The performers took to Instagram to share the exciting news.
“Going to set the world on 🔥🔥🔥 @shakira #PepsiHalftime #SuperBowlLIV @pepsi,” Lopez wrote in her post:
Shakira shared the same photo, writing, “It doesn’t get any bigger than this! So excited about getting on #SuperBowlLIV #PepsiHalfTime stage! @JLo #nosvemosMiami #happybirthdaymeee”
They both have such vast bodies of work, so it’s hard to narrow down just which songs we’d like to hear for the big show. But here are just a few of the tunes that we hope make the cut!
‘Let’s Get Loud’
This 1999 single by Jennifer Lopez is sure to pump up the crowd in the stadium. She gave an impromptu, high-energy performance of the song while standing on top of a restaurant table on vacation in Italy last year, so we can only imagine how awesome this one will be on the Super Bowl stage! Watch her perform the song live in the YouTube clip below:
‘Hips Don’t Lie’
Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” was a smash hit when it dropped in 2006, and it helped her become a household name. The song reached the No. 1 spot around the world, so it’s sure to get everyone singing along. Watch the official music video in the clip below:
‘Jenny From the Block’
J. Lo’s 2002 single “Jenny From the Block” is an anthem all about how she hasn’t forgotten where she came from despite her fortune and fame. The chart-topping bop is upbeat and fun, perfect for the Super Bowl stage. Watch the music video in the clip below:
The 2001 hit from Shakira came from her third album and was her breakthrough hit in the U.S. It was her most successful song here until “Hips Don’t Lie” surpassed it. The song peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Here’s the music video, so you can jog your memory about how catchy it was:
Last year’s Super Bowl, with Maroon 5 headlining the 2019 halftime show, attracted 98.2 million TV viewers, which was its lowest rating in 11 years. Hopefully Super Bowl LIV will turn this around with performances from these two amazing stars. We can’t wait!
