A Russian farmer shared a video on Instagram of a rescue of eleven female horses who got trapped in an ice hole in Russia.
The video shows a group of famers desperately trying to rescue a large group of houses stuck in a deep hole below the snow-covered ground in South Ural’s Bashkiriya region.
The farmer later said all the horses were successfully saved and did not sustain any injuries. He also said they were lucky to be nearby when the horses fell though ice in a place which would usually have strong ice and be safe to cross.
The video has since gone viral receiving almost 5,000 views and more than 100 comments on the original post.
“Unstable winter weather conditions were a consequence of this situation,” he said in a post.
“The horses entered the ice out of habit, thinking that the ice was as usual half a meter high. Thank God everything worked out, they pulled everyone out, acted promptly.”
He also warned others to be careful around rivers and lakes, adding that a relatively warm winter caused ice to be very unstable in many Russia’s regions.
